During the summer of 1964, Jim and Lula Stewart welcomed Kenneth Stewart into the world. Kenneth was the youngest of four children. From an early age, it was evident to others that he was one of God’s chosen. The family attended Clyde Avenue Baptist Church in Memphis, TN under the leadership of Reverend Swanson. Kenneth’s inquisitive nature and zest for learning God’s Word compelled him to spend time shadowing Reverend Swanson. Kenneth soon became a Jr. Deacon and continued to grow in the Lord. He served at Clyde Avenue Baptist Church until he left the area to attend college on basketball scholarship.
After college, he began working for Republic Airlines, which eventually merged with Northwest Airlines. Because of various job moves, Kenneth spent time in Los Angeles and St. Louis. In 1992, while living in St. Louis, he met Northwest Airlines flight attendant, Davita Gaines. They married one year later and settled in Maryland.
In 1998, his mother-in-law introduced him to Kingdom Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth Brown. It was during his time at KBC that his desire for learning and growing was awakened once again. He served as Chair of Deacons, Chair of Trustees, Youth Pastor and choir member. In 2002, he was involved in a car accident that kept him from working for two months. For two months Kenneth spent his days studying and praying. It was during that time that he heard the call from the Lord to lead a ministry. On January 12, 2003, the doors of Body of Christ Church opened with 12 members in the J.P. Ryon Elementary School cafeteria. On January 23rd, he was officially ordained and accepted as Pastor.
In 2008, he retired from Northwest Airlines and began a second career as a middle school teacher. In 2012 Pastor Stewart decided to dedicate himself to the ministry on a full-time basis.
Pastor Stewart gives glory, honor and praise to the Lord in all he does. He enjoys teaching, preaching and praising!
Pastor Stewart currently resides in Waldorf, MD with his wife, two daughters and their dog, Roxy.
Pastor Stewart cherishes his family especially his devoted wife, First Lady Davita Stewart and his two daughters, Kayla and Kelsey, who he affectionately refers to as Thing 1 and Thing 2. Pastor Stewart's family would not be complete without his mother-in-law, Deacon Joanne Gaines.
